EVO Battles is an upcoming web based card battling game and I was invited to handle the branding, site design and game UI design! The brief was actually pretty complex for EVO Battles and needed some time to soak up the wireframes, game flow and overall structure. But in short, the theme had to suck the player into the world of EVO Battles and make the game world pop! We settled on a style that had futuristic flares but also an overarching feeling of an aged world. The game is set in an alternate future where nature has taken back control. Lots of natural greens, textures and rich details contrasted with clean UI elements came together to create the final look. Once the game is launched I’ll be showcasing all the in game UI work too. EVO Battles was a seriously fun project to be part of!
When creating any game related website the goal is always to tie the website into the actual game as closely as possible. To extend the viewer and players experience beyond the game and into the web. Taking all the available concept art, in game art and bespoke promotional art, it is essential to create a world that feels like a literal extension of the game world. To plunge the user deep into the experience of the game from the moment the first page loads.
