Project Details

In memory of all the lives lost by our brave airmen that fought in The Battle of Britain, I wanted to do my own little memorial for them during the 75th anniversary. I know it doesn’t count for much but I felt compelled at the time to make these. I gave the set away on Twitter during the 75th Anniversary in the hope that it might make the odd person stop and think for just a moment.

The designs themselves were inspired by the iconic markings found on various aircraft of The Royal Airforce from this period. As a child growing up these bold markings were a staple part of my world. I was a keen modeller and a serious enthusiast of all things airborne. It felt like a real honour to use these markings and there is such a simple, elegant beauty in them.
